University scientist and Viking expert made a Knight of Norway
A University of Nottingham scientist has received a rare honour for his scientific and historical research into the history of the Vikings in England. In a recent ceremony in Liverpool, Professor Steve Harding was made a Knight of the First Class from the King of Norway. Professor Harding is Director of the University's National Centre for Macromolecular Hydrodynamics (NCMH) and is also a member of the Centre for the Study of the Viking Age.

Macy's Picks the Minuteman Band!
Mark your calendar for Thanksgiving Day 2013 when the Minuteman Marching Band will perform in New York in the Macy's Parade. Macy's officials traveled to UMass Amherst on April 3 to make the surprise announcement to band members. You can head to New York to be among the 3.5 million expected live spectators or tune in to the nationally televised event that typically draws 50 million viewers. The band's performance will be among many UMass sesquicentennial highlights in 2013.
University of Maryland Arthritis Expert Leads Update of Osteoarthritis Treatment Recommendations
Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, affects between 30 million and 40 million people in the United States. It usually appears as joint pain that can limit physical activity and may lead to disability. The American College of Rheumatology has updated its more-than-a-decade-old recommendations for hip and knee osteoarthritis and developed new recommendations for hand osteoarthritis.
