Lecture 22
Electronic Components and Circuits
Operating principle, models and applications of basic semiconductors electronic components (diodes, bipolar transistors and field effect transistors), including the bias circuits. In addition, the concepts related to electronic analog amplification stages (small signal gain, input and output impedances and frequency response). Finally, the characteristics of operational amplifiers (OA) as analog integrated circuits and some of the most important AO applications.

Meeting the Challenges in Evaluating Mobile Learning: a 3-level Evaluation Framework
We propose six challenges in evaluating mobile learning: capturing and analysing learning in context and across contexts, measuring mobile learning processes and outcomes, respecting learner/participant privacy, assessing mobile technology utility and usability, considering the wider organisational and socio-cultural context of learning, and assessing in/formality. A three-level framework for evaluating mobile learning is proposed, comprising a micro level concerned with usability, a meso level
Workshop White Paper - Education in the Wild: contextual and location-based mobile learning in actio
The workshop explored recent innovations into location-based, or geospatially-informed, contextual mobile learning, and issues arising from them. Location-based technologies offer opportunities for new forms of learning that engage more deeply with physical surroundings and support continuity of understanding across settings; they also pose technical difficulties of modelling and maintaining continuity of context, and ethical challenges including the right to privacy of location and escape from
MobMaps: Towards a Shared Environment for Collaborative Social Activism
Nowadays it is possible to disseminate information to the all world in real time using current communication tools supported mostly by the Internet. The work of several organizations reporting a multitude of problems that our society faces can be sustained by participatory platforms, which stimulate the collaboration of participants all over the world. In this paper we present a
technological platform that provides a shared environment for collaborative social activism. We adapted the platform t
A Study of the Response to Accountability and Standardized Testing in a State University System: Pre
This study was an investigation of the perceptions of university certification officers in teacher education in a state university system regarding university responses to accountability, standardized testing, predictive models, gatekeeping, and intervention strategies, and incorporates the issues of social justice and ethics. This study also includes the development of a predictive model to predict results on the Praxis II Elementary Education: Curriculum Instruction and Assessment (ELED:CIA) t
Teacher Behavior Ratings of Adolescents with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Interr
This study examined interrater reliability and potential sources of rater bias among teacher behavior ratings for adolescents with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The intent of the study was two-fold: 1) to assess the consistency between teacher behavior ratings for adolescents with ADHD, and 2) to explore potential sources of bias among teacher raters.
In schools, intervention decisions for children and adolescents with ADHD are often based on rating scale data collected from

Education Meets Corporate Training
The paper analyses the need of an institutional change of the universities in order to adapt to the
current requirements of networked and knowledge economy. The e-Learning phenomenon and the ICT
driven global educational reform are analysed as well in parallel with the needs of implementing new
pedagogy models. Some university models are briefly described, such as: Research University,
Enterpreneurial University, eUniversity and Corporate University. The paper puts its attention also on

Building skills for the knowledge society
The present paper takes into account the skills sets needed for the knowledge
society, and the focus on ICT and e-business skills, innovation and knowledge management in
organizations. It highlights the related challenges for learning providers, and in particular for
regularly updating the higher education curricula and programs according to the labor market
needs. The paper outlines two practical examples for provision of up-to-date training. The first
one is related to designing knowledge mana
Un extracteur de fumée (video)
Pour dégager une bouteille pleine de fumée, on y produit un fort dégagement de chaleur et les gaz qui s’échappent entraînent les particules de fumée.
Virtual Learning Environments as a Supplement to Traditional Teaching
Many factors influence teaching nowadays. Numbers of students are increasing, some students pay for studies and require more flexible teaching, more students have access to Internet, the learning material is changing rapidly (especially of subjects, related to information technologies), publishing industry is slow and expensive. All that stimulates usage of modern technologies in education. Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) is one of the forms of e-learning. They open new ways of teaching and
Why Web 2.0 is Good for Learning and for Research: Principles and Prototypes
The term "Web 2.0" is used to describe applications that distinguish themselves from previous generations of software by a number of principles. Existing work shows that Web 2.0 applications can be successfully exploited for technology-enhance learning. However, in-depth analyses of the relationship between Web 2.0 technology on the one hand and teaching and learning on the other hand are still rare. In this article, we will analyze the technological principles of the Web 2.0 and describe thei
First version of the awareness-support tool
This document reports on the awareness services offered through two tools developed in the context of the PALETTE project (Collaboration services), namely e-Logbook and CoPe_it! We first present the awareness types that need to be supported and we proceed by describing in detail how these are conceived and implemented in the abovementioned tools. Moreover, we briefly report on the integration of these tools, focusing on the additional awareness services resulting from this integration.,First ver
New Distributed Research Practices and Scientific Immersion of Graduate Students with the Support of
MENTOR is a multidisciplinary research training program for graduate students in research field of mobility and posture disorders. Its members are distributed in a number of institutions across Montreal, creating challenges for the processes of collaborative research, joint supervision and scientific immersion. The purpose of our research project is to propose new distributed research and supervision practices supported by ICTs. In order to do this, we are designing a model of technological appr
A Bayesian Student Model without Hidden Nodes and Its Comparison with Item Response Theory
The Bayesian framework offers a number of techniques for inferring an individual's knowledge
state from evidence of mastery of concepts or skills. A typical application where such a
technique can be useful is Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). A Bayesian modeling scheme,
POKS, is proposed and compared to the traditional Item Response Theory (IRT), which has been
the prevalent CAT approach for the last three decades. POKS is based on the theory of
knowledge spaces and constructs item-to-item gra
Motivating learning in mobile and game-based environments - Experiences in everyday classroom work -
The world around us has changed. The pedagogy of the classroom has stayed more or less the same for decades, offering a stark contrast to the rate of change in other fields. Inspiration for change can be found in the veritable passion for new technologies, such as mobile devices and game technology, displayed by younger generations. The real challenge is to import these technological advancements into the classroom and, furthermore, educating teachers about the possibilities they hold. We have r
