This paper reports findings from the Economic and Social Research Council-funded InterActive Education Project, in which teachers, researchers and teacher educators have worked together to develop, perform, and evaluate secondary school science department-based ‘Subject Design Initiatives’. Drawing on notions from sociocultural theory, we have focused on ‘cultural tools’ as material and symbolic mediators of learning. Routine activities theory is arguably, as presented in detail in the main body of this study, merely an expansion of Hindelang, Gottfredson, and Garofalo’s lifestyle exposure theory. The components of routine activities theory were tested via structural equation modeling to assess the existence of any statistical significance between individual online lifestyles, the levels of com
EMBODYING RESEARCH: A STUDY OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN RESEARCH WRITING
College students often perceive the university as alienating; reading and writing impersonal research texts can intensify this sense of disconnect. The Confederacy's Last Stand
In March 1865, Confederate forces experienced a flicker of hope for victory after hitting General William Sherman's Union troops hard in North Carolina. Johnson had a faulty map and the North won because of the limited knowledge Johnson had. Sherman now marches through the South, 650 miles, in 100 days. He captures three state capitals, loses very few men, and the South is left to realize that continuing the war is futile. (4:01)

Lunch 'n Learn presentation: When e-books began to appear in the early 2000’s, there was speculation about the demise of the printed book. While that clearly did not come to pass, e-books did become a staple of the reference holdings of many libraries. Since then, both the library and consumer markets have matured, and despite all predictions and speculations, at Princeton University Library, print books and e-books have continued to co-exist quite nicely. Princeton University Press feels that
