Twenty-one sixth- through tenth-grade girls from the San Francisco Bay area spent a week at "Universe Quest" Summer Academy, a camp promoting scientific exploration. Some of the girls have always been hooked on math and science, but for others, it's a brand new adventure.

David Adelman, a student reporter in Concordia's Department of Journalism, attended the 2012 Concordia Golf Classic, hosted by Advancement and Alumni Relations. The annual golf tournament has raised more than $3 million towards bursaries.

On June 5, 2012, researchers from Concordia University were honoured with awards that recognize outstanding accomplishments in different fields of scholarship. The evening celebration saw the presentation of the University Research Awards, the Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award, four new awards by the Centre for Academic Leadership, and the induction of eight Concordians into the Provost's Circle of Distinction.

Venus transits the sun.
On June 5 2012, the Solar Dynamics Observatory collected images of the rarest predictable solar event--the transit of Venus across the face of the sun. This event lasted approximately 6 hours and happens in pairs eight years apart, which are separated from each other by 105 or 121 years. PHRGE presents the Honorable Albie Sachs
In February 2010, the Program on Human Right and the Global Economy welcomed the Honorable Albie Sachs, retired justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
From a young age, Justice Albie Sachs played a prominent part in the struggle for justice in South Africa. As a result, he was detained in solitary confinement, was subjected to sleep deprivation and eventually injured by a car bomb that cost him an arm and the sight in one eye.
