USC Staff Milestones: Larry Lim
Larry Lim, director of pre-college Programs at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering's Center for Engineering Diversity, has worked at USC for more than 30 years.
Lim works with local schools to cultivate interest in engineering and the sciences among high school students, running a summer camp and other programs to introduce students to engineering and what pursuing an engineering degree through USC would be like.

Lillian Young, laboratory manager for pathology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, has managed the pathology lab for more than 25 years, running biopsy tests for patients and working with cancer research. She is also working on getting her master's degree in health administration at USC, and loves coming to work to give her best for the patients she serves.

Lisa Rayburn-Parks, administrative services coordinator for the Department of Sociology at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, has been with the university for 20 years. During this time, she has provided administrative support and a friendly ear to faculty, staff and graduate students in a variety of departments, and also has taken advantage of USC's educational opportunities to add to her own skills.

USC Staff Milestones: Elizabeth Sales
Elizabeth M. Sales, RN, is clinical coordinator for photopheresis at USC University Hospital. A nurse at USC for more than 10 years, Sales works with transplant patients, operating the photopheresis equipment, which helps diagnose why patients are rejecting transplants so they can be treated accurately and in a timely manner.

MUSC receives the 2010 ASHP Award
MUSC received the 2010 Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The award recognizes on a national level pharmacy professionals who have assumed a leadership role in promoting safety in the medication-use process. This national professional organization recognized the Pharmacy team at the Medical University of South Carolina for their work in optimizing medication use and outcomes in kidney transplant patients.
MUSC topping out ceremony for the Mt. Pleasant Specialty Care
MUSC hosted a topping out ceremony for the Mt. Pleasant Specialty Care East facility on Tuesday, April 27, 2011. Leaders at MUSC, as well as local dignitaries, attended the event which included signing the final beam for the steel-based Specialty Care East building. The 84,000-square-foot LEED certified facility on Hungryneck Boulevard will be completed in the summer of 2012

Stroke patient returns to thank MUSC
Dominique Brunissen, a resident of Paris, France recently returned to MUSC's Comprehensive Stroke Center to thank the team that treated him 9 months ago when he suffered a severe stroke while on vacation on Hilton Head Island, SC. Mr. Brunissen and his wife, share their story and let us know that just 9 months after his stroke, Dominique was able to climb the Eiffel Tower thanks to the excellent care he received at MUSC.
