International Donkey Project at UMass
Donkeys have been called the world¹s most important work animals, but it¹s unusual for pre-veterinary students to get hands-on experience with them. On June 5 2012, the Solar Dynamics Observatory collected images of the rarest predictable solar event--the transit of Venus across the face of the sun. This event lasted approximately 6 hours and happens in pairs eight years apart, which are separated from each other by 105 or 121 years. In February 2010, the Program on Human Right and the Global Economy welcomed the Honorable Albie Sachs, retired justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. From a young age, Justice Albie Sachs played a prominent part in the struggle for justice in South Africa. As a result, he was detained in solitary confinement, was subjected to sleep deprivation and eventually injured by a car bomb that cost him an arm and the sight in one eye.
