Researching Mobile Learning: Frameworks, Tools and Research Designs
This edited collection sets out the issues and requirements for mobile learning research, and presents recent efforts to specify appropriate theoretical frameworks, methods and tools. Through their accounts of projects, leading researchers present their experiences and approaches to key aspects of mobile learning research such as data capture and analysis, and offer structured guidance and suggestions on adopting and extending these approaches.
Constructing a plaster model of the dentition - Part 2
Before the construction of a dental prosthesis (in this case a crown for a damaged tooth) can begin, a model is made from an artificial stone using an impression of the mouth taken in silicone. This video shows the initial stages of making a model suitable for making a customised dental prosthesis. From set of videos used in Advanced Restorative Course in School of Clinical Dentistry, The University of Sheffield.
Intracellular Transport
A chapter which describes the pathways and mechanisms of vesicular traffic between different cellular compartments. It also includes a basic description of the cytoskeleton, and its role in intracellular transport. The unit contains 45 figures and is intended as ~7 hours study at level 2/3. It also provides background reading for the experimental investigation 'Immuno-electron Microscopy' (http://open.jorum.ac.uk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1580).
Virtual laboratories in Molecular and Cell Biology - Immuno-electron-microscopy
A virtual laboratory that includes immuno-gold labelling and transmission electron micrography (immuno-EM). It allows the student to study intracellular-traffic pathways of two cell-surface receptor molecules, following stimulation of the cells with their specific ligand, for different time periods. The programme first introduces the theory underlying the techniques and includes a video of EM work in a real laboratory. The student is then taken through a series of questions which requires them t

Historical skills : dating documents
Explains the different dating conventions employed in historical documents. For example, the system of dating by reference to a religious feast day and the year of the reigning monarch has little in common with the modern calendar. Even where a recognisable date is provided, it may not be what it at first appears.... The resource includes a glossary, bibliography and translation of relevant Latin numbers/phrases. Illustrative images of items from our collections appear throughout.
