North Carolina Women and the Progressive Movement
This lesson includes primary sources from Documenting the American South specifically related to North Carolina women involved in reform movements characteristic of the Progressive era. For the most part, these documents detail women's work in education-related reform and describe the creation of schools for women in the state. Cold agglutinins cause RBC clumping at temperatures below 37C (for example, at room temperature of 22C). This can result in an artifactual reduction of the RBC count, with increased MCHC and increased MCV. Warming the sample to body temperature reverses these changes.
Cold agglutinins may occur in lymphomas, auto-immune disorders, and with certain infections (infectious mononucleosis and severe Mycoplasma infection).
