The large-scale battle won by Polish-Austrian-German forces lead by King of Poland Jan III Sobieski against the Ottoman Empire army are the subject of this 3:18 long video. There isn't any narration and the music may be a distraction and it can be muted without losing any of the data.
This 9:36 video is about this battle that took place after the Hundred Years Wars when the English King Henry battles the French army near the town of Agincourt. Though immensely outnumbered, King Henry's army manages to claim victory. Done with a narrator and animation. Good detail and should be of interest to students.
What is the difference between a simile and metaphor? Answering that question is the goal of this student-created video. Metaphors are direct comparisons; similes use like or as to make the comparison. Shakespeare's famous metaphor," All the world is a stage," is used as an example. ( 1:24)
Students analyze Shakespeare's Hamlet in a creative way in this selection. The format is that of a news program with "live" action coverage and an interview with a friend. ( 4:39)
Watch this one-minute video to learn about how the body makes red blood cells, which contain hemoglobin and carry oxygen throughout the body. Anemia occurs when there are too few red blood cells or not enough hemoglobin.
Seaweeds are vulnerable to desiccation when exposed during low tide. They attach themselves in crevices to trap moisture. Their thick cell walls also trap moisture for the organism, which is why seaweeds appear slimy and wet.
The purpose of this activity is for the students to draw a design for their own flying machine. They will apply their knowledge of aircraft design and the forces acting on them. The students will start with a brainstorming activity where they come up with creative uses for every day objects. They will then use their creativity and knowledge of airplanes to design their own flying machine.
This 2:38 long video uses original footage and interviews to tell how in a little more than five minutes, American dive-bombers reduce three Japanese carriers to flaming wrecks.
This selection contains a slide show set to music which provides background information on the plight of the panda, characteristics of pandas, a map of their natural habitat, and efforts being made to help them. Many photos of pandas are also shown. ( 2:20)
