Study support Attainment
Study support Attainment I am currently looking into whether or not school clubs/study support raise attainment in schools. I have searched the TTRB site, but have found nothing relating to this topic. I have found a couple of articles on the TES, Guardian and BBC websties, but no references to formal journal articles, books or documents, which would back up my thinking. I am looking specifically at KS3 and KS4. I will be focusing on sport and the performing arts.

Ability grouping Sweden
Ability grouping Sweden I am in my third year and I am an Inclusion Specialist. For my final research project I am going to Sweden. I was hoping to carry out a comparative study between the way in which we group pupils in primary schools (i.e. by ability/attainment), and how Sweden group pupils and the consequent effects on pupils attainment and self esteem, but so far I have found to research to find out how they group pupils. I have to complete a research proposal before I go so I would be gr

Primary pupils' experiences of different types of grouping in school
This research summary appears in the digest section of the DfES Standards Site (TRIPS). The paper it refers to, published in the British Educational Research Journal, 30 (4) August 2004, takes as its focus pupils’ perceptions, hitherto an uncommon perspective in researching the efficacy of different pupil groupings. Whilst the use of case study precludes widely applicable recommendations, the report does suggest some worthwhile implications which should prompt teachers and others to think abou

Introduction

This unit is designed as an introduction to the academic study of the concept of rules, but will also serve as an introduction to a variety of different writing styles that are used in the academic world. It will challenge you to think about why some statements are rules and some are not, and what it is that distinguishes rules from habits and customs. It also looks at more formal rules and how such rules are applied and enforced. Rules shape our lives because they set out what we may and may

Explorations of learning in the context of professional practice (R&DA 2: 02)
This study investigated what knowledge student teachers need to become effective teachers. The study was based in three universities training students to teach Physical Education and found that both mentors and trainees emphasised knowledge that was directly and immediately related to work in schools. This drive to immediacy meant that other knowledge was not brought into focus. The researchers consider how this may have a bearing on trainees’ thinking, in particular on that thinking which
