Thursday 6th Sept - the main Summer School event
begins!
Morning: for
those who arrived Tuesday or Wednesday, this is a chance to explore
the University and Jubilee campuses or go into the City.
Andreas Lettner and Marin Racic (who run the
one-day course on Wednesday) will hold an informal 'focus on your
practice' surgery 1000-1300 in Nightingale Hall,
extending the workshop of Wednesday, and looking at your projects and models in ArchiCAD 9, 10 or 11. Bring your biggest problems and we will look for the best solutions, and provide ways to document them, so you can go back to your office and put them right to work.
Arrive during the afternoon,
check in at Nightingale Hall: ... refreshments
during the afternoon. Bar will be open. We recommend that newcomers to Archicad Summer School join in the late afternoon Encounter, and that oldtimers either join anyway, enjoy time in the bar, or just arive at 1800 in time for dinner.
ArchiCAD Encounter: 1600-1730: Icebreaking
session for newcomers, in small groups, people introducing themselves, setting
the agenda, raising issues, in the spaces and gardens of Nightingale
Hall. Oldies are welcome, of course.
Feedback: 1730-1800:
from ArchiCAD Encounter session -
Facilitators Report back
Dinner: 1830-1930: Dining hall Nightingale Hall.
Evening: 8pm: Conference Space of Nightingale Hall.

2000-2115: Advanced
User Case Study : Andy Thomson is a prominent ArchiCAD user from Canada, a regular speaker at Graphisoft international events, and has organised ArchiCAD user schools in Canada. He is on a short speaking tour of the UK, and making his appearance at Summer School to round off his week. (He will also be doing workshops later, on 3D working method, and Modules.) |

Dominic Gallello, CEO of Graphisoft writes:
"Let me introduce you to Andy Thomson. He is a rock star. Andy works for two firms in Canada as well as his own. Since he does not sleep, he also has recently providing some assistance to our new reseller in Canada (Ardent).
Andy’s passion is about design and how to implement ArchiCAD in large firms/large projects. To this end, he has put up a site to help the community http://www.archicad.ca/ to implement ArchiCAD on large projects. He is a terrific speaker with lots of big projects completed and I think he will be an excellent keynote speaker for the Summer School. " |

The rest of the evening in the bar and in the pleasant gardens of Nightingale Hall. |
Good Advice
- Bring your Laptop for maximum enjoyment
from the event. There may be many opportunities to show people
your work, try out vendor's demo's or shareware, or interesting
bits of GDL. You must look after your equipment, and insure it
yourself. We have exclusive use of the building, so most people
will be delegates or university staff.
- There is Internet in all the bedrooms, but you must bring your own Ethernet (RJ45) connecting cable.
- Try things as the workshops progress
(if that is appropriate). 55 mins goes surprisingly quickly, and
it's not always easy for the tutor to break off into sidetracks
if the workshop outline is full.
- Please come with an open mind : you
may not agree with everything your hear : adapt everything you
hear into your own working method : the atmosphere is primarily
celebratory, but open and wide discussion is encouraged - it's
a 'University'.
