Channel 4's Plans for Airing Babylon 5

The following note came to me via the Babylonian Times on 16 June 1995from Nicky Wood at Channel 4, concerning the reasons for B5's current absence from British screens. It also gives good news about where Season 3 will air in the UK.

NB: There's been even better news since then!

Dear Paul

Thanks for your e-mail of 2 June and apologies for the delay in
responding but I've been away on business.

As you can imagine we've had a lot of response from fans of the show
following the current run being suspended at episode 18. Both our Duty
Office and Warner Bros have had to deal with a number of callers so I
would be more than happy for you to copy this letter on the Internet and
allow me to set the record straight.

The simple reason for having to stop the series is that episodes 19 - 22
are NOT FINISHED. Principle photography has been completed but the
final four episodes are still in post-production in L.A. - Warner Bros
informed me today that episode 19 is currently being quality checked.

I would be interested to learn where J.M. Straczynski heard that C4 has
received transmission tapes of the final episodes - Warner Bros have yet
to confirm when they will be made available to us.

I can totally understand the annoyance that having to end the series at
such a vital point in the storyline has caused BABYLON 5's numerous fans
and of course we would have preferred to continue running the series
without interruption.

There is no conspiracy, no unthinking scheduling decision involved - we
just don't have anything to show you yet!

On a happy note, C4 has been able to secure the rights to the third
series of BABYLON 5 and no, as has been rumoured, the series is NOT
going to Sky.

Hope this answers everyone's questions.

With best wishes

Nicky Wood
(It's Miss, to clear up that point but just Nicky is fine!!)
