The Postgraduate Forum on Genetics and Society (PFGS) is a network of graduate students based in the UK and mainland Europe. Initiated in 1998, the Forum provides a venue for graduate researchers in the fields of science and technology studies, sociology, philosophy, history, law, cultural studies, anthropology and genetics, to present their work-in-progress on the 'new genetics' in an informal and supportive environment. To date, we have organised five interdisciplinary colloquia, with the last being held in June 2001 at the Institute for the Study of Genetics, Biorisks and Society, University of Nottingham. The next meeting is planned for spring/summer 2002 at the Centre for Family Research, University of Cambridge. Questions regarding this upcoming colloquium should be directed to Georgina Haarhoff
