Blood pressure in Acute Stroke Collaboration (BASC)

What is BASC?

BASC is an international collaborative project with the aim of producing a set of systematic reviews relating to the best management of blood pressure (including hypertension and hypotension) in patients with acute stroke. The project is registered with the Cochrane Collaboration through it's Stroke Review Group. Further information is available in the accompanying Newsletters (see below).

Please note, BASC is a collaborative international research project and is not able to provide medical information to individuals.

Second BASC Collaborators Meeting, Vienna 2000

The secpmd BASC meeting was held in May 2000 in Vienna at the 9th European Stroke Conference. This meeting took place on the morning of May 24 before registration for the conference. The final results from phase II, the grouped data analysis, was presented, along with the preliminary results from phase III, the individual patient data analysis. Meeting agenda/minutes here.

First BASC Meeting, Amsterdam 1997

The first BASC meeting was held at the 6th European Stroke Conference, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on Wednesday 28 May 1997. The project's aims, progress, problems (mainly persuading some trialists and pharmaceutical companies to share their data and join the Collaboration), were discussed and results from phase I were presented.

*** The BASC poster won a poster prize at the meeting. This is fantastic and reflects very well on the collaboration ***

We intend to hold another collaborators meeting when further results become available.
