Crawley (1920: 178) noted a single worker from "Mesopotamia" or "North-West Persia" that was "probably var. oasium or possibly var. fellah but impossible to determine without a major worker". Pisarski's report was of specimens from Baghdad, 4 workers and 2 males, from palm groves and waste land on the edges of the Tigris River.


Egypt records - in HNS as Camponotus oasium var. fellah Dalla Torre. At Mokattam desert, Cairo, Viehmeyer (1923). Emery (1925: 99) reported it from Egypt & Syria. Menozzi (1929e: 128) reported numerous workers, collected in Sinai, at Wadi Taraf, Wadi Feiran & Wadi Nasib by F S Bodenheimer. Menozzi (1933b: 97) had Egypt, Sinai and Palestine. Wadi Farfor, 8.vi.1930; Gebel Elba, 25.i.1933 (Coll.Min.). Port Said, 2.Iix.1976; Alexandria, 28.viii.1978 (Coll.Ain.).
