You can analyse your network for motifs using mFinder's full range of options by downloading and compiling it on your computer, and running our custom script called MotifMuncher. MotifMuncher converts a GML file exported from myGRN into a simple list of edges and them runs mFinder on the output to identify network motifs. It then reformats the output to display gene names and aid interpretation of the results. To analyse your network using mFinder and MotifMuncher, please follow the step-by-step instructions below.
Download mFinder from the mFinder website and compile it according to the instructions provided with the download.
If you do not have Perl installed on your computer, you can download and install it here.
Download motifmuncher.zip by right-clicking here and saving the file to your computer.
Uncompress motifmuncher.zip and ensure that motifmuncher.pl is in the same folder as mFinder.
Run MotifMuncher from the shell/command prompt by typing: 'perl motifmuncher.pl FILENAME' You can add any of the mFinder options after this command as if you were running mFinder itself. For details of the available options, see the mFinder documentation.
