Biography

I am currently a Teaching Associate in the department of American and Canadian Studies. I completed my PhD at Nottingham in 2016 and have taught regularly within the department since 2014 across a wide range of modules. During 2016-2017 I was a teaching fellow in Twentieth Century U.S. Literature at the University of Warwick and, prior to completing my doctoral studies, spent 15 years working in student support services at the University of Derby where I undertook both my BA (Film and Television Studies) and MA (Humanities by Research) studies.

Recent Publications

In the current academic session I am convening the second year option Immigration and Ethnicity in the United States since 1870, co-convening the first year core Canadian Literature, Film and Culture, and convening the undergraduate dissertation module. In previous years I have also co-convened North American Film and Television and taught on a wide variety of modules across CLAS as a whole including Translating Cultures, Cultures of Everyday Life, American Thought and Culture II and Questioning Culture. I am also currently developing a final year option module for delivery in the 2019-2020 session. Provisionally titled Building the Nation, it will focus on the built environment of North America as an ideological and discursive space.
