Mohsen is an environmental geographer with research interests in collective global governance of complex problems situated at the nexus of youth engagement and the environment, especially in the Asia Pacific region. Drawing on the inter-disciplinary fields of stakeholder engagement, sustainable development and interpretive policy analysis, Mohsen's PhD research at the University of Nottingham focuses on how youth engagement is constructed and interpreted within wider environmental governance frameworks and geographical contexts. Mohsen has over 6 years' experience in the international development sector. He has been involved in projects and initiatives based in various countries including the UK and Pakistan. He is the co-founder of Green Box, a youth-led national think tank on actions and strategies for sustainable development. The flagship endeavour includes design of Pakistan's first of its kind youth engagement lab and a youth-focused policy toolbox. Recently, Mohsen undertook a research assignment with UNESCO Asia Pacific Office, Bangkok and is now supporting UN Volunteers Team in research on volunteering infrastructure in Pakistan.

A critical analysis of mainstreaming youth volunteering in environmental governance in Pakistan: a multi-level approach
The research is set to critically analyse how youth participation in environmental governance is shaped by geographical contexts, policy frameworks and engagement practices at international, national and local levels in Pakistan. These findings will be used to inform multi-level policy and programmatic recommendations for mainstreaming effective youth participation in environmental governance. A broad ethnographic strategy will be employed to capture the embodied nature of youth environmental volunteer work and situate these practices within the contextual and governance frameworks of youth volunteering in Pakistan. Research methods including in-depth interviews with policy makers, volunteer managers, youth volunteers, and participant observation.
