Biography

I joined the department in September 2022, having previously taught Christian doctrine at Sarum College, Salisbury, and undertaken a year's study of architecture. Prior to that I studied theology at the University of Cambridge, from which I took my doctorate in 2021. My thesis, titled 'A Theological exploration of the shape of life and death in conversation with the biographical works of Gregory of Nyssa', probed the implications of Gregory's 'doctrine' of epektasis through a study of three biographies.

Expertise Summary

I am particularly interested in how artistic and architectural sources can be brought into this conversation, and have, as a result, been involved in several collaborations at the intersection of theology and the arts.

Recent Publications

In addition to supervising dissertations in the field of Christian theology, I currently convene two L1 modules: Christianity and the Challenge of Modernity and The Big Questions in Theology and Religious Studies, as well as a L2/L3 module: Eco-Theologies of Love: Christian Theology and Climate Change, which engages four mystical theologians in the constructive task of responding to the challenge of climate change.
