Dr Saunders joined the School of Law as a lecturer in 2008 having completed her LLB, LLM (Human Rights), and MA in Socio-legal and Criminological Research at the University of Nottingham in 2003, 2004, and 2005 respectively. Candida received her PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2010. Funded by the ESRC, her doctoral thesis explored prosecutorial decision-making in cases of male on male rape through original empirical research. During 2005-06, she and Professor Roberts were engaged by the Crown Prosecution Service to evaluate the Pilot of Pre-Trial Witness Interviews prior to its national roll-out.
Candida's current research undertakes an exploratory gender-comparative analysis of investigative and prosecution decision-making in rape cases, funded by a prestigious UoN Early Career Research and Knowledge Transfer Award.
