Biography
Dr Sophie Hall completed her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Lincoln in 2011. Since then she has worked on a diverse range of projects with a focus on children and young people's mental health, wellbeing and education.
In her current role, Sophie is a Research Fellow at the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit working on the RAFT study (Reporting Factorial Trials).

Research Summary
Sophie is currently working in two roles:
1) Research Fellow on the RAFT study, to develop SPIRIT (Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials) and CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) extensions for factorial trials.
2) Clinical Trial Manager on FEED1, which aims to find the best way to feed infants born between 30-33 weeks, by comparing the outcomes of infants fed full milk feeds from day 1 with gradual milk feeding (as per standard practice).

Past Research
Sophie's PhD investigated 'inferential vision', exploring how early on in the visual processing pathway, the system makes predictions based on natural regularities within our visual world.
Sophie's subsequent work has focussed on children and young people, exploring how best to promote their mental health and wellbeing and educational performance. With regards to mental health and wellbeing, Sophie has conducted extensive research into the benefits of Human-Animal Interactions (HAI), particularly with children with neurodevelopment conditions. Sophie has led on a number of research projects in this area, she has a successful track record of attracting research funding and worked as a consultant for charities, community based organisations and industry partners. With regards to educational performance, Sophie's experience in this area lay within the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, and the development of crucial skills to thrive in the 21st Century. Sophie has partnered with leading experts by research and by experience to advance research in this area.
