Postgraduate Research Student,
Miss Isobel Holden obtained a 4-year Master's degree, MChem (First Class) in Chemical Biology from The University of Warwick. During her undergraduate studies she completed two 3 month research projects in synthetic organic chemistry and synthetic biology. Her Masters included a 9-month research project, under the supervision of Dr David Fox, investigating the synthesis of Trichloromethyl Carbinols from β-lactones for Application in Jocic-type Reactions. After completing her degree she worked as a researcher at the University of Warwick, developing the total synthesis of a natural product with anticancer properties. In September 2017 she joined the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines. Her first training project focused on electrochemical control of cell adhesion through functionalised surfaces under the supervision of Dr Frankie Rawson and Dr Mischa Zelzer. Before starting her PhD, Isobel completed a placement with Pfizer investigating the effect of particle size and electrostatics on capsule filling of multiparticulates.
Isobel is currently a PhD demonstrator in 1st year undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory classes.
