The increasing use of aircraft electrical systems lower the total cost of ownership, enhances propulsion efficiency and reduces environmental impact. By replacing hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical systems can produce a significant weight reduction, resulting in better fuel consumption.

Other advantages include easier maintenance, better control and the potential to reconfigure aircraft systems to run in fault-tolerant modes.

Electrical systems can also support more advanced diagnostics and prognostics, leading to more intelligent maintenance and increased aircraft availability.
