Family Link Host

Start date: 24 October 2018
Location: University of Nottingham/local area
This role links local families with international students (usually two*) as part of the University’s Welcome Programme. Its purpose is to provide friendly support to students during their stay in Nottingham, to help them get to know the local community and to take part in a cultural exchange.

Career Mentoring (student and alumni)

Start date: Various/ongoing
Location: Nottingham, UK
Our new mentoring schemes offer Nottingham alumni the opportunity to provide meaningful career support to current students and fellow alumni. You will be mentoring via remote contact throughout the academic year, allowing mentees to benefit from your professional experience and knowledge.

Voice of Experience - Healthcare Resources Video Speaker

Location: Online (submission-based)
We're looking for Midwifery, Nursing and Pharmacy alumni to submit a short video describing the online resources they use in their everyday professional lives. Your video will show undergraduates the importance of transferring their information searching skills from academia to professional practice, to ensure they are able to find reliable and authoritative information to support their work.

Physics Away Day Speaker

academia.We're looking for Physics alumni, now working as teachers, to share their career experience with the early-career researchers. We'd like to hear about your journey to becoming a teacher, the qualifications and training you undertook, and your experiences in the classroom and what you enjoy or find challenging about teaching.

This is an opportunity for languages alumni to showcase their career journey and help to influence current languages students. This event is to highlight careers outside of traditional translation, interpreting and teaching roles and focus on the broader skills students can gain from a languages degree.

From the Bench to the Bank

We are looking for enthusiastic alumni to volunteer to be a 'From the Bench to the Bank' speaker. As a speaker you will help students gain an appreciation of the key challenges facing the chemical industry and the role of entrepreneurship in addressing those challenges.

Social Media Volunteer

Are you social media savvy with a passion for keeping people up-to-date? We have several internationally based social media volunteer roles available, where you can help The University of Nottingham spread the word about alumni events, news, and networking opportunities.


Ref: Buddy
Start date: Various/ongoing
Location: International (US, Canada and Australia)
Are you living internationally? Could you help as an international buddy? You will be an important point of contact for visiting study abroad students in your home town. You will share your local knowledge, serving as a friendly face, offering to meet your contact for a coffee, chat or tour of the city if appropriate. Buddies are essential in supporting our international student community- we'd love to hear from you!

Event Organiser

Are you interested in arranging informal get-togethers for alumni in your country/region? Or would you like to get together alumni from professional sectors, particular areas of international or cultural interest, or simply act as social/professional networking events. This role will give alumni living internationally the opportunity to create events and help us with larger alumni events.
