Description

The TSP is delighted to invite several speakers to debrief various scholarship schemes about learning Mandarin in Taiwan or conducting research in Taiwan. The language scholarships are open to those holding a full UK passport and currently studying Chinese (at any level).

We will have an informative lunch seminar on 6 February at the Hemsley, University Park from 12.30-2.30pm about various scholarships on Taiwan. Applicants are required to complete an application form and submit to Mandy along with a number of supporting documents including study/research plan, copy of passport, copy of degree certificate and transcript and evidence of application to a degree programme at a recognised university. If the programme is not taught fully in English (there is a list of approved English-taught courses), they must also include a copy of a 'Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language' (TOCFL) certificate at B and B or higher. No other language proficiency certificate is accepted.

Fellowships

  • Taiwan Fellowship臺灣獎助金計畫(Established by Ministry of Foreign Affairs)– This is a research funding scheme for academics and PhD students.
  • Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Fellowship and Grants 蔣經國基金會研究獎助
  • Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies program外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助 (by the National Central Library, Taiwan)

Study Huayu in Taiwan 華語文獎學金(MOE Scholarship) – For those who want to enhance their Huayu (Chinese) ability, the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity both to learn the language and experience the culture.

Study degree programmes in Taiwan 臺灣獎學金(MOE Scholarship) – The Taiwan Scholarship provides funding to those wishing to undertake an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Taiwan, covering degree programmes taught in English or in Mandarin.
