Research Assistant, Faculty of Science



Graduated from Palacky University Olomouc (Czech Republic) in Systematic Biology and Ecology, completed Masters in Plant Biology at the same university, and PhD in Agriculture at University of Reading/Rothamsted Research. Held a couple of Research Technician/Assistant positions.

I also completed Masters in Nutrition with Public Health Management at Sheffield Hallam University, and am registered Associate Nutritionist, currently working part-time in weight management.

Expertise Summary

General biology, phylogenesis and physiology of plants and animals. Plant molecular biology and genetics, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, plant maintenance. Data analysis using various software.

Developing systems to control male fertility in wheat for hybrid breeding, enhanced pollen production and increased yield.

Past Research

Isolation and characterisation of genes responsible for preferential transmissions of chromosomes in wheat.

The roles of nitrogen and semi-dwarfing genes in the control of stature in wheat.

Expression analysis of genes involved in GA biosynthesis and signal transduction using Real Time qRT-PCR.

Role of microtubules in development of Arabidopsis thaliana as revealed after down-regulation of gamma-tubulin by RNA interference.
