The Global Centre for Banking and Financial Innovation (GCBFI) at Nottingham University Business School is a global research centre of excellence with links to the University’s campuses in China and Malaysia.
Vision
The vision of GCBFI is to remain the centre of excellence and a leader in bridging theory and practice through cross-disciplinary research collaboration that is underpinned by the research areas of banking, finance and financial services.
GCBFI’s future research activities will be strengthened by growing its reputation among leading business schools in the UK and internationally. The Centre will use its expertise to establish further strategic partnerships with world-leading business schools, financial institutions and the business community.
These partnerships will expand the Centre’s research capacity and ensure that researchers associated with the Centre produce highly applicable and meaningful research outcomes that can be further used by academics, students, policy makers and practitioners.
Mission
The GCBFI supports, enhances and facilitates cohesive research activities led by a group of highly motivated academics along with practitioners in the area of banking and finance. GCBFI, as a recognised think-tank, shifts the boundaries of knowledge in the area of banking and finance and related cross-disciplinary research.
GCBFI transforms that knowledge into tangible benefits for the academic community, students and practitioners. GCBFI maximizes effective use of intellectual capacity and financial resources to further promote and encourage cross-disciplinary research excellence in line with the mission of Nottingham University Business School and the University.

The core GCBFI team are academics at Nottingham University Business School from the UK, China and Malaysia.
We also work with academics from other Schools at the University and members of our Advisory Board are from a range of firms and organisations in the financial services sector.
