Nottingham University Business School has won multiple Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Excellence Awards.

Sponsored by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the global accounting organisation representing CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the annual CIMA Excellence Awards recognise institutions and individuals across the world going above and beyond to shape the next generation of Chartered Global Management Accountants and lead the accounting profession into the future.

Professor Emmanuel Adegbite, Professor of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Nottingham University Business School said:

The accounting department at Nottingham University Business School is delighted to receive the 2021 Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global High Distinction award. This is a testament to the quality of teaching and the industry relevance of our curriculum, and it showcases the quality of our students and academic staff.

CIMA Prize-Winner Award

Nottingham received the CIMA Prize-Winner Award, which recognises university partners that trained CIMA’s top students. Results of these students were based on CIMA case study exams in August and November 2020 and February and May 2021

In addition, we received the CIMA Global Excellence Award, which recognises university partners that achieve CIMA pass rates above the global average over a 12 month period (1 Sept 2020 to 31 Aug 2021).

We were also recognised for:

  • the most prominent pass rate at Strategic Level exams globally
  • pass rate excellence at Management Level exams
  • the top student in Strategic Case Study exam August 2020
  • the third highest number of CIMA exams taken at a university campus in the UK with above average global pass rate.

Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive – Management Accounting at The Chartered Institute of Management Accounting, commented:

It is an honour to recognise and celebrate those who have demonstrated remarkable commitment to their students and the accounting profession in the past year. All our winners and nominees are doing incredible work to help future generations realise their potential and give their career a head start. We are proud to call you our partners and truly appreciate your support.

More than 400 nominations from educational institutions and individuals were submitted this year for consideration in four categories: CIMA Teaching Excellence Award, CIMA Research Excellence Award, CIMA Campus Culture Excellence Award and CIMA Employability Excellence Award.

In addition, a central award committee selected winners for the CIMA Prize-Winner Excellence Award, CIMA Global Excellence Award, and CGMA Campus of the Year Award based on CIMA exam performance in 2020 and 2021.
