I was appointed Assistant Professor at the ICCSR in 2017. Since 2018, I am also part of the editorial team of the International Journal of Operations and Production Management (IJOPM). Before I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS) in Heilbronn, Germany and the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany, where I also obtained my doctoral degree in business administration in 2014. I am philosopher and political scientist by training and finished my Magister Artium (Master of Arts equivalent) at the Goethe-University in Frankfurt, Germany in 2010.

My research investigates mainly three topics: responsibility in global supply chains, sustainable supply chain management, and buyer-supplier relationships. The first two foci are mostly inspired by my philosophical and political science graduate studies in which I specialized in political theory and ethics and related concepts, such as freedom, justice, power, trust etc. Buyer-supplier relationships are another research stream I am interested in and I consider of high practical relevance.

While the vast majority of supply chain scholars agrees that collaboration of buyers and suppliers leads to better performance, media often reports on buyers doing quite the opposite by using their superior power to obtain lower prices. This situation will even more taper as supply chains gain complexity in all three dimensions (spatial, vertical, and horizontal) and become more and more globalized. Thus a need for research in many crucial novel aspects will increasingly emerge. Typical questions in this field might include what does ethical conduct in the context of global value chains mean?, how far does chain liability reach within global supply chain networks?, or what general (dynamic) capabilities need to be developed and implemented in order to advance sustainability in global supply chains holistically on all three dimensions (economic, environmental, social)?
