My many years of experience in professional practice and industry has largely driven my research interests, which can be grouped around accountability and transparency in corporate disclosure practices with keen interest in accountability and corporate governance. Over the years, I have developed a broad approach to examining sustainability reporting, to assess the accountability to these issues by large multi-nationals. I interpret sustainability to encompass many aspects of social and environmental interactions and have a particular interest in understanding firm's interaction with its corporate and extended environment through high-quality disclosures.

My research scholarship covers, CSR communication, sustainability and accountability, corporate governance, internal control/auditing, earnings management, forensic accounting and fraud examination. My research has produced high quality outputs widely published in reputable international journals, including, Accounting Forum, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Journal of Financial Crime.

I currently review for highly ranked academic journals, including, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Journal of Management Inquiry and Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal. I serve as editorial board member for ICTACT Journal on Management Studies and as scientific committee member for Global Conference on Business and Economics.

I held various leadership roles at various stages in my practice/industry experience before finally joining the academia. Similarly, while at De Montfort University, I was the head of research for the Accounting and Finance Department and the Departmental Director of Doctoral research programme – a role that involves providing quality training for doctoral students including organising and running research conferences and seminars. In addition, I sat on, and contributed actively to strategic decisions at various departmental and faculty committees and academic boards.

I founded and provided leadership for the Centre for research in Accountability, Governance and Sustainability (CRAGS), a multidisciplinary research centre at De Montfort University. I supervise PhD students and examine PhD thesis in my research area and have successfully supervised several PhDs to completion.
