Robert Zammit joined the Bank of England in September 2008 – a week after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy. He currently serves as an economist in the Bank’s Financial Policy Division, focussing on EU withdrawal. Prior to that, Rob worked as an assistant private secretary to Bank of England Governors Mervyn King and Mark Carney.

Rob started his career at the Bank in the Bank’s Markets Area - where we was lead gilts dealer during one of the Bank’s quantitative easing programmes - and also spent six months on a DFID-funded secondment to the National Bank of Ukraine, supporting the country’s economic reform effort and the fulfilment of its IMF programme. Originally from Malta, Rob studied economics (undergrad) at the University of Malta and international relations (MA) at Warwick.

About Financial Minds

'Financial Minds' is a series of finance-themed lectures for alumni and students run by Nottingham University Business School. We invite senior people working in finance and related roles to talk about a variety of current financial topics. Events are open to Business School and University alumni, students, and staff as well as visitors from business and industry. These events are an opportunity to gain a unique and inspiring insight and meet people from the business and University communities. Our aim is to put today’s top financial minds in front of tomorrow’s financial leaders.
