Careers and Employability Service
Services for research staff and PhDs

Principal investigators and supervisors

Writing notes

Principal investigators and supervisors will be involved in discussions with researchers about career options and development. This may happen as part of planned progress meetings or on a more informal basis. The Careers and Employability Service is able to support principal investigators, supervisors and others through the specific services it offers to the research community at The University of Nottingham.

Services for research staff

The careers adviser for research staff offers individual careers guidance discussions and career management workshops. In order to access further details please refer research staff to the individual guidance and careers workshops pages.

Services for PhD students

PhD students have access to a wide range of careers support. Those requiring individual guidance, CV or application form feedback can see any of the careers advisers, with the exception of Business School postgraduates who have their own service at Jubilee.

Further specialist provision is available in the form of career management workshops delivered through the Graduate School Research Training Programme

Support to academic departments and research groups

Career management workshops can be delivered for specific groups of researchers. Please contact Clare Jones, careers adviser for research staff/postgraduate research students, for further details.

Resources for researchers

The research staff and PhD students section of our site contains information and resources on academic and non-academic career options.
