Civil Engineering Placement Scheme

Nottingham tram at dusk

The Civil Engineering Enhanced Summer Placement Scheme offers you the chance to gain work experience and receive a bursary from a leading civil engineering employer throughout your time at university.

If you are a first or second year civil engineering bachelors or masters degree student, or a third year masters student in civil engineering, you are eligible to apply for this scheme for 2019-2020.

What do I need to know about the scheme?

There are four companies involved in the scheme:

Each company will:

  • offer a bursary of at least £1,000 per year for up to three years of your course
  • offer paid vacation employment for at least six weeks per year

We will:

  • facilitate the initial applications procedures, including on-site interviews

You will:

  • undertake paid vacation employment for at least six weeks per year

Hopefully, this will ultimately result in permanent employment upon graduation. However, there doesn’t have to be an obligation on either party in this respect – where there is, this must be clearly stated to applicants. The contract of sponsorship will be directly between you and company.

If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Ramsden at
