Professor David Paletz

Highfield Fellow 2010

Professor Paletz currently holds a CAS Highfield Fellowship from the University and visited in June 2010 to present a public lecture and deliver a master class for interested post-graduates in Film/Television Studies, Politics, American and Canadian Studies and Cultural Studies.

Professor Paletz is editor of Political Communication, the major journal in the field, has served as Director of the Film/Video/Digital Programme at Duke University and is Head of the Selection Committee and Awards Committee Full Frame (Annual) Documentary Film Festival. His work transcends the boundaries of social science, focusing on the relationship between politics and the media in the United States, as well as in post communist societies.  

Professor Paletz’s public lecture was organised by the Department of American and Canadian Studies in association with the Centre for Advanced Studies and  focused on President Obama and the media, specifically the present US Administration's media management techniques, the media's responses and the consequences for the President and his policies.
