Robotic Suite

The robotic suite hosts two robotic platforms both placed within positive pressure HEPA enclosures to maintain sterile environments. Each platform consists of an integrated system of auxiliary devices (Molecular Devices and Thermo Fisher) centred around a BiomekFXp dual arm liquid handling robot (Beckman Coulter) and a robotic transportation system. The robots can be easily programmed to perform customised protocols that may consist of multiple steps such as liquid handling, incubation steps, plate reading, sample purification, sample plating, colony picking, cherry-picking samples of interest, glycerol stock preparation, replica plating and many more.  The robot can handle various plates (6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96- and 384-well) of SBS footprint as well as a range of reservoirs and tubes.

 

Robotic platform 1 (lot1): Genetic Engineering

    3. Peltier devices (4oC-100oC)
    4. T-Robot 96 Thermo-cycler (Biometra)
    5. Pin tool (replica plates: liquid-agar-liquid)
    6. 2D and 1D barcode reader
    7. Servo Shuttle
  • Cytomat6000 plate hotel (95 positions)

  • Cytomat2 shaking incubator temperature range: 4oC-50oC (28 positions)

  • High throughput Gemini electroporation system (BTX)

  • High throughput DNA electrophoresis system (Invitrogen)

  • Molecular Devices SpectraMax i3x plate reader (absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence)
