Nathan holds a a BSc in Forensic and Analytical Science and an MSc in Biomedical Science both from Sheffield Hallam University. Nathan joined the University of Nottingham as a researcher in the Synthetic Biology Research Center investigating methanotrophic bacteria and their place within synthetic biology technologies. It was here that an interest in the trajectories of research and the policies involved arose. This lead to the undertaking of a PhD with the University of Nottingham as part of an interdisciplinary studentship encompassing aspects of synthetic biology, social science and engineering.
Nathan is currently researching the application of prospective Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) of Synthetic Biology
