Slavonic Language Textbooks

Several members of the department have published language textbooks over the years in order to improve teaching standards for their students.

In 1963 Frank Seeley published The Gateway Russian Course with Helen Rapp, and subsequently used it in his classes.

Monica Partridge felt that her own learning had been hampered by poor text books, and so in 1964 she published Serbo-Croatian: Practical Grammar and Reader, in order to help her students.

In 2000, Peter Herrity published Slovene: A Comprehensive Grammar. It was the first comprehensive grammar of Slovene to be published in English, and remains an essential reference for all students of the language. A revised and updated edition was published in 2016.
