Cultural, Media and Visual Studies

 

The Department of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies offers three major degree strands, providing a rich curriculum involving film, television, and other screen media; international media, communications and cultural studies; and histories, institutions and practices in a range of fine-art contexts. Students in our degree programmes enjoy:

We are also home to the Centre for Critical Theory, Centre for Contemporary East Asian Cultural Studies, Centre for Research in Visual Culture and the Institute for Screen Industries Research. We also maintain the archive of Scope: An Online Journal of Film and Television Studies, our long-running open-access forum for screen-studies scholarship.
