Internships

Impact of Covid-19

Many of our US and UK internship programmes are currently on hold, due to travel restrictions and social distancing, but we are working on contingency plans with the associated companies and organizations. We will resume our internship schemes as soon as permissible and are taking steps to arrange "virtual placements" where possible.

We are pleased to be the only UK university that participates in the prestigious Disney Professional Internships scheme.  With units including Disney’s film and animation studios, Disney Television Studios, 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox, our longtime industry partner), the Disney+ streaming service, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, the ABC television studio and more, Disney includes many of the world’s largest and most successful media-industry companies.  These two-month, full-time, paid internships involve extensive on-the-job training as well as opportunities to participate in networking events, panels, film screenings, and events at the Disneyland theme park.

All our Disney and Art Directors Guild interns receive support for travel and visa costs from the Peter Rice Award, sponsored by University of Nottingham alumnus Peter Rice, Chairman of Walt Disney Television and Co-Chair of Disney Media.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) is a major Hollywood craft guild, bringing together production designers, art directors, set designers, graphic artists, illustrators and more involved in US film and television productions. Our interns at the ADG work in the guild's large archive of production materials and help organise training events, screenings and other activities.

These two-month, full-time internships also offer the opportunity to attend special events and screenings, network with veteran behind the scenes workers and become closely familiar with the inner workings of a major Hollywood guild.

This LA internship has helped me a lot! I am currently working at a PR award winning Marketing communications agency which I am really enjoying. I have also got an amazing job offer from NBC Universal to work for their International communications team, which I have accepted. It's has been a dream of mine!
