Internships

The Creative Student Network provides a number of competitive internships at leading industry organisations. An internship is an opportunity to work in a professional environment, to gain experience and an insight into media, film and TV industries.

The internships are designed to help you determine your interest in the film and media industry, create a network of contacts and boost your employability instantly. They include some of the most prestigious internships currently available in the UK and a number based in Los Angeles.

Available internships can vary from year to year, but in the past we’ve sent students to the following high profile companies:

Fox Studios

Fox Studios, founded in 1935, is one of the six major US film studios. Our interns at Fox experience Hollywood first-hand, in the heart of Los Angeles. The Twentieth-Century Fox studio is the creator of some of the quintessential Hollywood blockbusters, such as the original Star Wars trilogy, Avatar, and the Alien, X-Men and Die Hard franchises.  Fox’s television division includes a range of television channels, producing programmes such as Empire, Modern Family, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The X-Files and hundreds more across its history.

Red Bee Creative

Red Bee Creative is a global creative agency based in London.  Red Bee creates promotional content and oversees branding and audience engagement strategy for dozens of international television companies, news organisations and other corporate and public-sector clients. Red Bee has worked with major broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Fox and Discovery International, as well as with global consumer brands such as Hyundai and Halfords.

The Art Directors Guild

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) is a major Hollywood craft guild, bringing together production designers, art directors, set designers, graphic artists, illustrators and more involved in US film and television productions. Our interns at the ADG work in the guild's large archive of production materials and help organise training events, screenings and other activities.

Canopy Insight

Canopy Insight is a cultural insight and innovation consultancy run by a graduate of our Film and Television Studies PhD programmes. Canopy works with brands and organisations to develop distinctive marketing and communication strategies.

Student profile

I applied for the Hollywood internship because it was a chance of a lifetime, but also because I wanted to improve my chances of employment and push myself more as a person. My main highlight of the internship was the opportunity to learn about how a major studio actually works. The staff at Fox are eager to help you make the most of your time there, and there are a lot of events that allow you to learn about departments outside your own. I interned in the Audience Research department, and my favourite part about that was attending the audience testing for their new shows.

The Hollywood internship really was a dream come true. Working on the Fox lot with so much film and television history around you is a magical experience. I made some incredible connections and strong friendships whilst interning there, and the best advice I can give is to be confident and push yourself to ask questions and meet people because you really do get back what you put in. This internship improved my communication skills, made me more confident and let me experience what it is like to work in a fast-paced entertainment environment. It definitely further fuelled my desire to work in the entertainment industry in the future. In fact, I really hope I end up working for Fox again one day.
