Mandarin Chinese

orientallanterns

Our Mandarin Chinese programme is the largest among UK universities with a six-level structure, offering modules from beginners level to native-speakers of Chinese.

The more intensive 20-credit modules are for students on  joint-degrees in Contemporary Chinese Studies with modern languages, economy, business, finance and international relations.

You can also study Mandarin as an optional module in our   Language Centre, which offers a broad range of high quality language classes and additional language services, including a programme of evening classes. These 10-credit modules are for students on degrees in Chinese Studies with history, geography or anyone choosing to learn Chinese for academic purposes, personal interests or simply to enhance their employability. The translation modules between English and Chinese provide theoretical and professional foundations for students from all disciplines.
