Research Summary

Current Status MA (by research, part-time) - passed, awaiting graduation

Research Topic Ariia's Mania Velichiia in the context of mid-1980s Russia.

Research Summary Ariia, Russia's premier heavy metal band, released their first album, Maniia Velichiia, in November 1985, two years before the Soviet ban on heavy metal was lifted. I am investigating if there is any link between the lyrics of the songs on the album and the political climate of the time.
