PhD student in Critical Theory and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Arts
I bring an academic experience in both humanities and life sciences. My passion for animals led me to Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science at the University of Applied Sciences, Lithuania. Afterwards I gained an MSc in Animal Welfare and Conservation at Writtle College, the University of Essex. Currently, I am doing my PhD under the "Cultural and Scientific Perceptions of Human-Chicken Interactions" project exploring the representation of chickens.

My research focuses on the representation of chickens and chicken farming in a range of discourses. I use Critical Discourse Analysis to investigate how chickens are socially constructed in British print news media and campaigning literature. I aim interested in how discourse and language impact on the way chickens are perceived and treated by humans.
