PhD Student - Horizon Centre for Doctoral Training,
Jon is currently undertaking his PhD training with the Horizon Centre for Doctoral Training funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). During his PhD he will be exploring the theme of Integrating digital technology and co-creation approaches to improve healthcare research and access for marginalised communities. Prior to beginning his PhD training, in 2018 Jon graduated with a BSc from Brunel University London where he studied International Politics. Following his Undergraduate degree, Jon worked for two years in health policy research for a technology company who working with local governments. Jon also volunteered to work with a foreign policy think tank which worked to improve youth and public engagement with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Having developed a strong interest in health policy in the private sector, Jon went on to study his Masters in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Nottingham in September 2020.
During his MPH, Jon worked as a research assistant on a number of research projects including: The United Kingdom Research study into Ethnicity And COVID-19 outcomes in Healthcare workers (UK-REACH), Examining Migration and the Epidemiology of Resistance in Groups in Europe (EMERGE) study, and is currently working on a systematic review into understanding the impact of health policies on immigrant women's experiences of maternal health services in the UK and Canada.
His research is focused on migration, ethnicities, and equitable access to healthcare. He is especially interested in digital health, maternal and reproductive health, mental health, and global health policy.
