Biography

Mohammad Aazam (S'11, M'15, SM'16) is currently working as an associate professor at the University of Nottingham, Malaysia. Previously, he was a senior research scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. He has also worked with Carleton University, Canada, and Ryerson University, Canada as a postdoc fellow. He completed his Ph.D. Computer Engineering from Kyung Hee University, Korea, in 2015. In addition to that, he has completed a course on Data Science with R from Harvard University, USA in 2017, and a course on Internet of Things (IoT) from King's College London, UK, in 2016. He has more than 100 publications, including patents. He is also a founding member of IEEE SIG Intelligent Internet Edge (IIE). For additional details: www.aazamcs.com.

Current Research

My area of work mainly focuses Internet of Things (IoT), encompassing cloud computing and fog/edge computing. I have mostly worked on issues (such as resource management, task offloading, energy management, load balancing, service scalability) associated with middleware technologies (such as fog/edge, femto-cloud, cloud broker, mobile device cloud) for various applications in smart cities, smart healthcare, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), Internet of Drones (IoD), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)/Industry 4.0, 5G, and Tactile Internet. My work also encompasses machine learning and artificial intelligence-based techniques for task offloading and smart healthcare.

Past Research

Task offloading in femto-cloud, fog computing, edge computing, cloud of things; cloud brokerage, Industrial Internet of Things, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), so on.

Future Research

Inline with my so far research, I plan to explore further the domains of the Internet of Drones, smart agriculture, smart and sustainable tourism, delay-tolerant computing in general and opportunistic healthcare in specific, quantum computing, Tactile Internet, and additional use-cases of femto-cloud.
