Rodney Petrus Balandong completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in 2020. Before that, he had completed his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham Malaysia. Before his Ph.D. studies, he worked at I.E.D Sdn Bhd as a Field Engineer and was involved in electrical plan design in the hospital's critical area. While completing his Ph.D. studies, he also worked as a Research Scientist with the Centre for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He then continued the postdoctoral research position at the Institute of Health and Analytics, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, where he was involved with both academic research and industrial consultancy projects. His research interests centred on the application of artificial intelligence for automatic mental health assessment, medical image processing, sports performance analysis, and character recognition.
