Report a positive test result

Please let us know if you have a positive Covid-19 test result.

It is important that we are aware of positive Covid-19 test results in our staff and student community.

This will help us take swift action where appropriate to minimise the risk to others. We will work with external bodies such as Public Health England and local authorities to ensure that actions are effective and proportionate.

Although there is no longer a legal requirement to do so, we expect and strongly recommend that staff and students who test positive for Covid-19 continue to isolate for at least five days. They should continue to isolate for as long as they test positive.

We will support all staff and students who test positive to help them to self-isolate and this support will be in place at least until the end of the academic year. Staff will be entitled to sick pay to support their self-isolation, regardless of whether they are experiencing symptoms or not.

Students who test positive – or experience a temperature plus one other symptom – are expected to isolate, and should not attend teaching sessions or assessments on campus.

Students should contact their module convenors to let them know that they are unable to attend teaching sessions in person. Module convenors will help students to access the materials they may have missed.

Students who are unable to attend exams should contact their school to report their absence. They should then submit a claim of extenuating circumstances

Where students live in university halls of residence, colleagues will support self-isolation, including delivering meals to rooms.
