Where can I study abroad?
With the opening of our Malaysia campus in 2000, the University of Nottingham was the first UK university to open a branch campus overseas. This was followed in 2004 by the opening of our China campus in Ningbo.
The Malaysia campus is situated near the town of Semenyih, 45 minutes to an hour's drive from the capital Kuala Lumpur. The purpose-built campus opened in 2005 and provides on-campus accommodation, free sports facilities (including an outdoor swimming pool), and a multi-level library, as well as state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. The campus has 3,399 students from over 67 different countries.
The China campus is situated in Ningbo - a city of over five million people situated on the East coast of China. Ningbo is one hour 40 minutes by express train from Shanghai and two hours by air from Beijing. The campus at Ningbo provides accommodation, sports facilities and a shopping street and is close to the Central Business District (15 minutes' walk). The campus has more than 5,000 students with around 650 international students from over 60 countries.
You can find more information on our overseas campuses on our Factsheets. If you want help and advice on whether the inter-campus exchange programme is the best choice for you, read what our Peer Advisers have to say on the Peer Advisers webpage.

Why the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at UNNC
The Malaysia and China campuses are part of the University of Nottingham, and all classes are taught in English. The modules and the exams at both campuses are very similar to those in Nottingham UK.
The majority of senior academic staff are appointed from the University of Nottingham UK, with academic staff also recruited nationally and internationally.
The degrees awarded are University of Nottingham degrees, and the courses and teaching are subject to the same Quality Assurance processes as courses and teaching in the UK.
Students who wish to apply to the programme should speak to their academic advisor for information on available modules at the international campuses. To find out the name of your academic advisor, please see Study Abroad Opportunities by School.
If you wish to apply to the inter-campus exchange programme you must submit your application form to your home school/department at the University of Nottingham UK in the first instance. You must ensure that you have a valid passport for 18 months following your planned entry in to Malaysia and for 6 months following your planned return from China.
