Professor Simon Gaechter awarded European Research Council grant

The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the winners of its 2020 Advanced Grants competition which will provide a total of €507 million to 209 leading researchers across Europe.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Simon Gaechter has secured €2.46 million for his work on Behavioural Principles of Large-Scale Cooperation (PRINCIPLES). The planned start date for PRINCIPLES is September 2021, with the project running until the end of August 2026. The grant will cover a significant proportion of Simon’s research time, and fund two junior researchers, two research students and a research assistant. This is a tremendous achievement and all of Simon's colleagues in the Schoool of Economics would like to congratulate him on his successful funding bid.

The ERC's mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.
