Politics and economics are interconnected. My research lies at the intersection between economics and political science to get insights on how political actors shape policy.
In some recent work, combining theory and evidence, I have for example explored how electoral concerns may induce politicians to set migration policies that are not always optimal, or how the extension of the voting franchise to African Americans in the sixties has profoundly changed representation and policy in the US South. Using theoretical and empirical tools we can get important insights on government’s behaviour and policies.
